West Cumbrian school celebrates achievements of young performers

Razzamataz West Cumbria were delighted to present a range of Awards to the whole school including Mini of the Year for the littlest through to Achievement Awards in Dance, Drama and Singing for the whole school. There was also the Performer of the Year and a very special award named after a member of the Razzamataz Head Office staff who sadly passed away but will always be remembered for her loyalty, dedication and teamwork.

“These Awards represent what our Razz community is about and seeks to shine a light on every child,” explains Matthew Aitchison, Principal of Razzamataz West Cumbria. “We look to acknowledge not just the most talented students, but those with a great attitude to learning, those that have overcome shyness and those who are great class members. It is important that children get recognised for their effort as much as their ability and it encourages all students to reach for a goal.”

The Awards are a huge celebration for the whole school with each class performing a short piece for parents and friends. After the Awards presentation, students enjoyed a disco with an entertainer and the opportunity to socialise with other families at the school.

The Awards celebration is just one of the many events that are offered at Razzamataz West Cumbria. There’s currently a chance to attend a free trial day on 20th July 2019  where parents and children can find out about all the opportunities at the school.

“As well as dance, drama and singing classes, we also offer special industry-led workshops as well as special performance opportunities,” adds Matthew. “We find these additional events really inspire the students and the whole teaching team and helps to keep students motivated and challenged.”

Over the next couple of months, Razzamataz West Cumbria  will be fundraising for the company’s charity Future Fund to help a Razzamataz student through further performing arts education. Being part of a successful network has allowed Razzamataz West Cumbria to be part of a large-scale production at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End this November. For students just about to join, they will be able to join the cast for the school’s annual show on July 13th.

“Razzamataz West Cumbria is a wonderful community of dedicated students, teachers, staff and families,” adds Matthew. “There are lots of opportunities planned and many exciting events that we are currently working on.”

Razzamataz West Cumbria offers performing arts classes for all children with a strong focus on keeping fit and active, having fun and making friends. Classes start at age two and go on to 18 and there are lots of chances to perform giving children the opportunity to grow in confidence.
